The Sales and Business Development team

The team provides risk management solutions and web-based platforms for corporations, insurers, brokers, governmental agencies, industry bodies, cooperatives, and agribusiness companies to offer smart and cost-effective parametric products to clients.

The team also originates, mandates, and consults private clients globally on climate, agriculture, and natural catastrophe (re)insurance. The successful candidate will be a part of the Sales and Business Development team, reporting to the Head of Business Development.

The position is full-time and will be based in London (UK), with travel for business development, client management, and conferences globally.

Your responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers and other distribution channels, with focus on the London (re)insurance market to enhance deal origination opportunities.

  • Actively originate, analyse, and assess parametric climate and NatCat insurance and reinsurance submissions from clients and brokers.

  • Manage submissions from clients and brokers and coordinate with internal teams, including Underwriting and R&D, to ensure timely and efficient processing.

  • Client and relationship management, pro-actively keeping all stakeholders updated on climate and NatCat conditions potentially affecting the (re)insurance transaction.

  • Drive global business expansion by gaining access and opening doors, with a particular focus on (re)insurance companies and brokers.

  • Make a strong contribution to reaching Business Development goals and targets through effective deal origination. You are actively involved in identifying key stakeholders, from initial contact all the way through to deal closure.

  • Support in optimizing workflows, assisting with the enhancement of internal processes and communication within the Business Development team and towards the Underwriting and R&D teams.

You have:

  • Demonstrable track record in the (re)insurance industry and an extensive network of contacts in the broker community.

  • At least 3 years of experience in the (re)insurance, broker or NatCat modelling industry, focussing on business development and climate and NatCat deal origination.

  • Passionate and experienced in climate and NatCat related risks and the (re)insurance market in general.

  • Proven tenacity and perseverance in navigating external and internal stakeholders to overcome challenges in the sales lifecycle of parametric (re)insurance transactions.

  • Proven ability to successfully bring transactions ‘over the finish line’.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.

  • Self-reliant working style, with the ability to seek guidance when needed.

  • Strong presentation skills, particularly for in-person or virtual meetings with multiple stakeholders.

  • Ability to understand complex technical requirements and work with the Product and R&D teams to determine solutions for our clients.

  • Demonstrated quantitative and analytical skills.

  • Languages: Fluency in English. German and Spanish are assets.

You are a strong team player with robust analytical and inter-personal skills. You are solutions- and results-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver in a structured and timely manner. You are comfortable working in a global team in different time zones and cultures.
